I am very fond of this round cake stand for it marks the beginning of my handmade cake stand adventure.

The design came to me in a flash of inspiration one busy day in the pottery studio. I have learned to keep paper and pen nearby for moments like this when I need to quickly sketch ideas as they arrive.

The Victorian Frill is a classic wedding cake stand. It is all about "dressing up","putting on the Ritz", "celebration."

Simply put, wedding cakes look stunning on it!

I make the Victorian Frill cake stand of white porcelain clay on the potter's wheel. It is strong and durable - just right for the weight of big wedding cakes.

The antique white glaze has a satin finish-not too matt and not too shiny- with some visual texture which is always nice in a glaze. The porcelain piping, or slip trailing, as it is called in pottery making,is done by hand. Every dot,vine,leaf and squiggle is unique to the stand it is on making each one truly one of a kind.

The 12" Victorian Frill cake stand is the most popular size for weddings. It stands 6-7 inches high. It is a useful and practical size for after the wedding too.
